13th Riyadh Sustainable Development Forum

When it comes to the environment, I always think of this verse:

O David, indeed We have made you a successor upon the earth, so judge between the people in truth and do not follow [your own] desire, as it will lead you astray from the way of Allah.

38/Sad 26

Being the successor on Earth imposes a heavy responsibility on humans in all aspects of life and in our relationships with all living creatures in the universe. Whether it’s using a small plastic straw instead of an recyclable alternative for a little convenience, buying unnecessary clothes, or using private vehicles instead of public transport… In fact, we make choices all day long while performing our actions. Do we really question these choices in a way that befits the successor on Earth?

I believe in constantly questioning and making the best choices we can, even producing sustainable solutions is our responsibility. Leading events in this regard is also part of this endeavor. Our news is exactly related to that.

Localizing Sustainable Development

Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, will host the 13th Saudi Green Buildings Forum in October this year with the theme of “Localizing Sustainable Development Goals.”

As we know, the Sustainable Development Goals include the objectives set by the United Nations at the global level. However, in order to achieve sustainable development, we need to consider these goals at all levels, from local to global. This forum aims to emphasize this with its theme.

Towards Zero Carbon

Under this theme, the forum aims to increase carbon-free applications in the construction sector, focusing on key concepts such as energy, water, green cities, collaborations, and technology, where energy and water efficiency are ensured, and eco-friendly materials are used.

A exhibition will also be held at the forum in collaboration with expert organizations in the construction industry, highlighting zero-carbon and eco-friendly project investments.

The forum will take place from October 8th to 10th, 2023, under the leadership of Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs, Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail, and is expected to be attended by numerous experts and investors.

We hope that the awareness of all of humanity and the Muslim ummah on this issue will increase, and that Muslims, being successors on Earth, will continue to lead in developments in this regard.
