Djamaa El Djazair Mosque -The Third Biggest Mosque in the World

Djamaa El Djazair Mosque, which is expected to be completed in 2019, will be characterized by modern architecture alongside having medieval Andalusian architecture incorporated, which is closely related to the history of Algeria. 

The mosque’s 265-high minaret will be visible from anywhere in Algeria. With this, it will also have the unique title of the longest minaret in the world. 

Breath-taking views  

After climbing 37 floors of the minaret to reach the top, you will come face to face with the breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Gulf. spread over 10 kilometers of land on the south side, the minaret stands out with its grandeur among the Matija plain and Blida’s majestic mountain range. 

Five different companies from Germany, France, and Algeria are involved in this mega project. Despite all the problems and mishaps, 2,300 workers, engineers, and construction managers work 24/7 to ensure the project can be delivered on time.

An environmentally-friendly system

This inside of the Djamaa El Djazair Mosque will be heating using solar panels on the inner and outer parts of the building via a reflective system. In addition to this, the drainage system will allow rainwater to be collected and used for the maintenance of the decorative garden. This will enable the building to be an exemplary one, with its energy and water-saving features.  

In addition, the Djamaa El Djazair Mosque has a built-in area of over 400,000 m² which includes independent buildings on over 20 hectares of land. The add-ons to the mosque area are as follows; a conference hall, a museum of Islamic art and history, a research center on Algerian history, the center of the House of the Quran, commercial buildings, a restaurant, a library, an amphitheater, a plaza, an underground car park with a capacity to hold up to 7,000 vehicles, as well as a separate building for the maintenance and security of the mosque. With this, Djamaa El Djazair Mosque not only aims to be a place of worship but also a center for social life.
